Prayer Begins with a Name

Prayer Begins with a Name

Gen 4:26
26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
(KJV)

I believe this is the beginning of prayer as we know it. The LORD had stopped making Himself personally visible to men, and so it was required that men communicate with Him through their internal existential awareness. So they began to use the name of Him who they could not now presently see. But they knew He was there by faith, and used His name faith-fully. And that became the testimony to His name:

Acts 2:21
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
(KJV)

And it continued as the centuries rolled.

1 Cor 1:2
2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
(KJV)
